WSIB
First aid and incident reporting
First aid requirements apply to covered Ontario workplaces, including off-site work.
Our cleaning work happens in homes and vehicles, so supplies and contact steps must be
easy to access.
When someone is hurt, treat urgent safety first, get help, then document what happened.
If Someone Is Hurt
Follow the response order
- Stop the task and remove immediate hazards if you can do so safely.
- Call 911 for emergencies, serious injury, trouble breathing, chest pain, fainting, heavy bleeding, or suspected poisoning.
- Use the first aid kit and contact the designated first aider or supervisor.
- Tell Lisa or the shift lead as soon as practical.
- Record what happened, where it happened, witnesses, products involved, and follow-up steps.
First Aid Setup
What to keep current
- First aid supplies for the office, vehicles, and off-site work locations.
- At least one valid first aider available according to WSIB rules.
- Form 82, first aid inspection card, and first aider list at first aid stations.
- Quarterly first aid supply checks and expired-item replacement.
- No over-the-counter medicine in the first aid kit.
Coverage
Certificate level depends on shift size
Emergency first aid
WSIB certificate requirements depend on how many people are working on a shift.
Check the current WSIB rule before assigning coverage.
Standard first aid
Larger shifts can require standard first aid coverage. Confirm the certificate level
before changing schedules or assigning a first aider.
